Fifth edition of Agritech Expo Zambia a success

April 12th to 14th saw another great edition of Agritech Expo Zambia, Zambia’s leading outdoor agriculture expo held on the site of the Golden Valley Agriculture Research Trust (GART) in Chisamba, come to a close. Even with the struggle presented by the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, more than 200 national and international exhibitors covered 70,000 sqm of exhibition space and welcomed 18,200 visitors.

Zambia continues to offer great agricultural potential in sub-Saharan Africa, as it has a politically stable market environment that is increasingly attracting professional investors from abroad. The fair is seen as an important B2B platform for agricultural professionals, from small farmers to commercial farmers and trading companies, to start business with some of the world’s leading agricultural producers.

This year, as in the past, there were many trial field demonstrations with the most common varieties of crop production. The numerous machine demonstrations by leading agricultural engineering manufacturers were also popular, as were the practical workshops for aspiring farmers such as “Bridging the gaps within the agricultural policy system” and “Trade and export opportunities within SADC region and beyond”.

There were seven international country pavilions presenting their innovations and solutions while current agribusiness topics were discussed for the enthusiastic tradeshow visitors in a series of workshops and presentations.

The next edition of Agritech Expo Zambia will take place from April 11th to 13th, 2019 in Chisamba, Zambia.
